Pocket Aces Again? Posted by kamassy , under: Omaha Hi Pot Limit, Omaha Poker Hands
Yes, again. I lost 3 big blinds in this Omaha Hi Pot Limit poker hand just to see a flop. Why? Because I’ve had a pocket Aces with one potential flush draw and more or less connected 6-9 off suit. What happened? I pot-raised pre-flop in order to protect my Aces, but once I saw the flop, I folded pretty quickly since these guys were pushing bets very hard.
Flop brought 7-8-J suited. Unfortunately, not in spades, so I folded. I couldn’t care less for the best possible overpair - keep in mind that this is Omaha. I was quite surprised on the showdown since no one had a flush. One of them was fighting to the end with a Three of a Kind, and the other one tried to monetize with the Two Pair, which is in this case legitimate since he carried it out from the flop. He also had a low potential straight draw.
As you can see there was an Ace on the turn, but hey - that chance I didn’t take. In this case, this pot would be mine, but I lost lots of chips in similar situations. So I still strongly suggest folding Pocket Aces if you miss the flop.
