True Meaning of Lucky River Posted by kamassy , under: Omaha Hi Pot Limit, Omaha Poker Hands
This post should begin with a classic line - don’t try this at home. I had a mad luck throughout this Omaha Hi Pot Limit poker session, so I played some mad moves as well.
As you can see below, I had two straight draws in my hands with some straight potential as well, so I limped in from small blind. After the flop, one player pot-raised and I called. Why I did that? One of my flush combinations worked and I needed only one diamond to complete it. Without a pair on the table, full house was out of the question.
On the turn I had some doubts - now there is a potential straight as well. My opponent pot-raised again, and I called - again. This could end up pretty bad. With straight handing in the air and the constant threat that he’s holding a pair of Kings, Tens or Sixes in his hole cards, I should fold this.
Then came the lucky river for me - 5th diamond. Still with no pair in the community cards, I had nuts! The guy pot-raised, I re-raised the maximum, and it went all the way until he was all in.
I scooped the pot of, but I was curious to see on what cards he played. He wasn’t bluffing at all. He had a flush as well, only one card weaker. To be honest, if I was on his place, I would do the same. He didn’t know that the card he was hoping for lead him off the table. Until the river, in every moment he had a stronger hand.
All I can say is - it’s Omaha!
