I was involved in this exciting Omaha Hi Pot Limit poker tournament, and had my moments really - this one was one of them. Tournament just started but my stack was pretty big, so I didn’t have much worries.
My hole cards were good enough (Ah-Qc-8c-10s), so I limped in from the button. After the flop I had a straight draw in perspective and a top Pair, which is not much for Omaha, but it was good enough for half-pot call. I missed the turn, but one of the short stacks pot-raised on that Seven. I looked at the table and couldn’t figure out what is he aiming for. If he has a pocket sevens, it’s reasonable, since there is nothing else for him here. Since he was a small stack player, guess he would bet much more on the flop if he had a straight draw too. So, I decided he’s bluffing, so I called.
A Ten on the river brought me a Two Pair, and who knows what to my opponent. Now you can imagine a straight on the table, and I just don’t have it. Surprisingly, he just checked? That should reassure me he was bluffing, but I thought maybe he is setting a trap. So I checked as well and saw what I expected - a huge, weak and see-through bluff! I am just sorry I didn’t take more chips from him.
