Play aggressive, that’s what they say for Omaha Poker. This example shows you why. I had a pretty bad hand, but since nobody placed any bet, I got a free flop from big blind. Now I had an open-ended straight draw. One more thing went to my favor - rainbow on the flop. With all that in count, I finally raised, and this all wouldn’t happen if the guy in the cut off raised since I would be far gone from the pot by now.
What happened next is the guy just called my bet on the flop. Again, serious re-raise would chase me away. On the turn, the magic card appeared and I completed my nut straight, King high. Since this was Omaha Hi Pot Limit Poker hand I had to fear of the river, but I didn’t calculate but rather I was all in before the river. My opponent called and it turned out we have the same hand!
What is interesting in this hand is that the guy already had a nut straight on the turn, but he didn’t raise?! That poor decision lead him to lose this pot completely since the river card completed my Ace High straight leaving him with nothing.
Conclusion brought here is you have to play flop nuts aggressively in Omaha Poker, or you’re doomed.
