One situation I never wrote about is one of the hardest lessons I learned hard way. If you wish to win Omaha Hi Pot Limit Poker tournament, you have to learn to let go. Luckily I learned another important rule of Poker in general prior to this hand, so I was not swept from this table in seconds.
I had pocket Jacks in this hand and I missed a flop by far. However, I called each and every bet made by another player because I didn’t believe he has a better hand. Even though odds were against me in every way, I kept calling till showdown.
I totally missed the fact that the guy wouldn’t gamble since his tournament life was in stake. Specially this far in the tournament. Only good thing I did is I controlled the size of the pot so I lost a minimal amount possible. As you can see, I was beat by a Full house, but even the set was enough.
Poor play. As simple as that.
