This was Omaha Hi Pot Limit Poker hand. My hole cards were 2h-2c-3d-Kc. They weren’t anything spectacular but will show their power at the end! Some players wanted to see the flop, but most of them didn’t find anything interesting and folded after it. Since there were two Clubs I decided to bet. Only one player called. Turn card was Eight of Diamonds and I didn’t like that so I just checked. My opponent bet since he had a straight.
The surprise came on the river. Another Club! Both my opponent and me hit the Flush! I bet a whole pot which was in the same time my all in. My opponent called and he was surprised when he saw that I had a stronger Flush. Lol!
The best feeling in Omaha is when river hits you and the worst one is when the river card hits somebody else!

Oh, what a great feeling! I was chasing a Straight but eventually I hit Straight Flush in this Omaha Hi Pot Limit Poker hand.
My hole cards were 5c-Qc-Qh-Kh. After little aggression we finally saw the flop. Ace and Jack were perfect for Straight and I had a strong felling that Ten will come! Only one player called my bet. Ten of Hearts showed on the turn! I needed that! My opponent liked that card too so he bet, I raised, and he called.
River card was incredible! Nine of Hearts and with that card I had a Straight Flush! Hehe, my opponent checked, I bet, he called and I won!! He had three of a kind Tens and I was a lucky winner of this pot! Woohoo!!

This hand is another example why you need hole cards that interact with each other. In this Omaha Hi Pot Limit Poker hand I had Ah-8h-Qc-10c. If you translate this in Texas Hold’em hands you’ll get A-8 suited, Q-10 suited, A-10, A-Q, 10-8 and Q-8. So, from six possible strong hands, I was happy with five.
Let’s roll. After some raising pre-flop cards were revealed. I had so many outs on the flop, but all of them seemed too far away. However, I couldn’t let this hand go. Seconds later, we were all in.
When I saw hole cards of others involved, I saw that all of us had a reason for this all in. All three of us had A-Q! However, straight wasn’t completed for any of us. But, my running flush draw hit me! Maybe that’s luck - maybe good calculation. Anyway, I scooped the pot.

Omaha Hand Has More Hands Then One

Here is one simple hand representing an often behavior at Omaha Hi Pot Limit Poker tables. I had great cards pre-flop, so I raised and my opponent re-raised a whole pot. I called and missed the flop completely. Well, not completely, I hit a pair of Queens - as close to nothing as possible for Omaha.
I tried to steal the pot with another pot raise and the other player re-raised forcing me to go all in on the flop! Well, I committed a lot of chips already, so I called looking a bit foolishly to myself… I even asked myself - why am I paying this - am I mad? Then the moment of truth came, I finally saw my opponent’s cards and I was stunned. He had even bigger nothing - Deuces! Oh my god, I stumbled upon even more mad player.
Other players had question marks over their heads! As you can see, I won the pot. Pair of Queens stood up, but I was so ashamed that I left the table immediately. Don’t do this, this is my worst poker play ever.

Last couple of days I was beaten by river card so many times. I even thought that somebody put spells on me! I was despert! But it’s just a meter of time when the cards will be on my side! Finally it starts to happen!!
This was Omaha Hi Pot Limit poker tournament. My hole cards were Ks-8s-8d-Qd. Flop was so beautiful with that two Queens! While I was betting was thinking – hehe I got a Queen, this will be mine! While my opponent was raseing he was thinking - hehe I got a Queen, this will be mine!
After the flop card I start to panic a little. Since I was beaten so many time by the river card I wasn’t sure anymore that three of I king was good enough! What if my opponent holding a pocket of duces or sixes?! What if he had a flush draw?! What…?! What..?! So many questions and the only chance to have an answer was to continue to play.
What ever he had or he was waiting for he will need to pay a lot since I decided to be very aggressive. River card was a King. I won with a full house, Queens full of Kings. Finally I won!! This was my lucky river!

I love berserk hands, specially when I win. There is absolutely nothing you can learn here except the fact that luck has some influence in your Omaha Hi Pot Limit Poker game. As you can see from my hole cards, I had a hand at the flop - King high flush draw, and a straight draw as well. Of course I pot raised to scare off potential drawers here, but I got two consecutive re-raises from my opponents.
I had two options on the flop - to fold or to go all in. I decided to go all in, since I thought one of the players has a flush draw (hopefully weaker then mine) and the other one is defending a set. What a mistake. They both called my all in and checked to the river. It turned out both players had a flush draw and one of them with an ace. I said goodbye to money, but good fortune was on my side.
I won the pot with two pair, Aces over Deuces, with a stronger kicker! What a luck. I didn’t have any choices but to admit it was pure luck, berserk play that payed off. So I quickly left the table with the money in my pockets. Anything else would be a disaster with two players waiting to destroy me. I think I spent all my luck for this day.

Luck and a Kicker, Nothing More

You can call this hand as lucky, but it was more then pure luck. I had a legitimate hand with double suited hole cards (A-Q of Hearts and 8-6 of Clubs). Nobody was happier then me when I saw the flop in this Omaha Hi Pot Limit Poker Hand. I had a nuts flush draw, nuts straight draw if Ten appears, and a lousy pair of Eights. I raised on the flop and only one of the short stacks called.
When I checked on the turn it was pretty obvious I am drawing for a flush, so my opponent went all in on the turn. I had to call considering the situation.
When 3rd club appeared on the river I thought I was dead beat, but it turned out that my two Clubs were enough this time. Yes, that was lucky river for me, but this good example explains why you need more then one good hand in your hole cards to win the pot in Omaha Poker.
My opponent made a good judgement by placing me on the Hearts flush draw, and was pretty furious I believe when chips rushed towards me. With good reason, I had to admit.

I Don’t Mind

There are good and bad bluffs and you need to sense a distinction. Here is an example of a good bluff in Omaha Hi Pot Limit Poker session. I had pocket pair of Queens and a potential flush in my hands. Not much, but it’s enough for limp in.
When the flop came up (K-6-5 rainbow) I decided to head for the pot with a pot raise and it worked flawlessly. It was a bluff that was allowed by other players at the table. Any bet would force me to muck my cards. Here is why:
- everyone checked which means no one flopped a set.
- I had some value in my cards (Pair of Queens and running flush draw)
- pot-raise from the button screams I have a set or open ended straight draw
- if anyone calls I am getting a free river since they would expect me to lead the hand
- if anyone did re-raise I would fold
These are the reasons why this was a good bluff that brought me 5 times big blind pot. Not much, but every free card could hit someone and I would lose this one.

Good Bluff in Omaha Poker

One situation I never wrote about is one of the hardest lessons I learned hard way. If you wish to win Omaha Hi Pot Limit Poker tournament, you have to learn to let go. Luckily I learned another important rule of Poker in general prior to this hand, so I was not swept from this table in seconds.
I had pocket Jacks in this hand and I missed a flop by far. However, I called each and every bet made by another player because I didn’t believe he has a better hand. Even though odds were against me in every way, I kept calling till showdown.
I totally missed the fact that the guy wouldn’t gamble since his tournament life was in stake. Specially this far in the tournament. Only good thing I did is I controlled the size of the pot so I lost a minimal amount possible. As you can see, I was beat by a Full house, but even the set was enough.
Poor play. As simple as that.

This was Omaha Hi Pot Limit Poker hand and my hole cards were 9c-9h-10h-2h. My opponent, who had pocket Aces a King and an Eight in his hands, raised pre-flop. I was the only one who called his raise. After the flop cards Kh-10c-4h he had never bet again and he gave me two free cards. I was waiting for a Flush since I was holding two hearts. I knew that he didn’t hit the flop because he was just checking.
I never hit the flush but Nine showed up on the river. I had Three of a kind, Nines. Since I knew that he had probably nothing I raised a half pot. He called! Hehe! I won this hand!
If he raised a whole pot just once during this hand I would probably fold! After the flop cards he should play more aggressive and he would have win the pot because I wasn’t ready to risk that much!

You Should Bet One More Time
