This was Omaha Hi/Lo Limit poker hand. My hole cards were 2h-2c-3d-3s. After the flop I had a three of a kind, Twos. That was great but the problem was - my opponent had a flush, Ace high. Off course I didn’t know that but I was aware that somebody might have a flush. I was thinking for a while and made my decision – I will continue with this hand. That was a tough decision since I knew that it could cost me a lot. Most times people found raise button very interesting in limit games.
After the turn card I asked myself – Should I had fold after a flop? Well, it’s a little late. I gave a lot of chips and I need to continue with this hand. All or nothing. Great! River brought me a full house, Twos full of Sevens. Very soon I was all in. And I won a high pot! Low pot was taken by a player who was also all in with A-2-3-6-7. Since we were all in, rest of the chips were taken from the third player who had a flush after a flop. Luckily he took just a couple of chips. The fourth player who was in the game didn’t win anything, he had just a straight.

Should I Stay or Should I Fold?

Today wasn’t my day for a poker. One of the times when you realize that you should leave the table before it’s too late. I figured that out after a bunch of unsuccessful hands. After this one I left the table.
I was sitting at this Omaha Hi/Lo Limit poker table for a while. Hand after hand my cards were worse and worse. Even when they were not so bad, I totally missed every single flop. This one was different because I won, but the main pot was so embarrassing.
My hole cards were pretty bad 4-10-J-Q, rainbow. Don’t want to mention that with these cards I can’t go for the low hand. Flop cards surprised me in a very nice way. They brought me a full house, Fours full of Queens. Great! Since five players were active in this hand I didn’t want to scare them off so I just checked after the flop. Sadly they all checked too.
Turn card was more than I expected, another Four. That means that I got a four of a kind. This time I need to raise just a little. Unfortunately only one player called my bet. But when I raised half a pot after the river card, he folded. Yes, he folded and left me a shameless main pot. I was so disappointed that I left the table immediately.

Four of a Kind And a Shameless Main Pot

The worst case scenario for me in Omaha Hi/Lo is the one when I play against just one opponent and we split the pot. Much better scenario is if there is at least one more player involved in the hand. This was Omaha Hi/Lo Limit poker game. My hole cards were 9h-10d-Js-Ac. I got a straight on the flop. My opponent on the left got three of a kind, Queens at the same time. Third player in this hand, got only one pair, Queens. Turn card changed the situation just for a player with a one pair, now he had two pair, Queens and Fives. River card goes in favor of a player who had a three of a kind and now he has a straight. The same straight as me. This was his lucky river.
After the river we all knew that one player will won the whole pot. There will be no split pot because there weren’t enough low cards on the table. Well, the truth was different. We split a pot, me and opponent on my right. We both had a straight, Queen high. Luckily for us, the third player was involved in this hand too. He called every single bet till the end, not that I understand why. He had only two pair. But, this hand wouldn’t have any sense if the third player wasn’t involved.

This Hand Wouldn’t Have Any Sense Without Your Chips

Well, well, well, what we’ve got here? Full House vs. Flush vs. nothing, almost nothing. My hole cards in this Omaha Hi/Lo Limit poker hand were Ac-2h-2c-Kc. Flop brought me three of a kind, Twos. I was happy and my opponent was happy too. We were waiting for just one card. I was waiting one card for a full house, he was waiting one more card for a flush. The third player was waiting for… hm… I have no idea. Turn card brought an advantage to my opponent. Now he had what he was waiting for, a flush. But, his luck lasted for a very short time. Hehe. River card brought me a full house, Twos full of Sevens.
The problem I had in my head was – is my full house strong enough? I mean, somebody could have a stronger one. But… I gave a lot of chips and I will not quit now. I will go till the end, especially because one player will take a whole pot. Nobody could win low hand since community cards contain only two low cards, two and seven.
I won this one! Cool. I understand why the player with a flush was constantly forcing the raise button. I understand why I was pushing the raise button. But, I can’t figure out why the third player stayed in this hand. He only had two pair.

Full House vs. Flush vs. Nothing

Since this was Omaha Hi/Lo Limit poker game I was pretty pleased with my hole cards (Ad-3d-5d-9s). After seeing a flop I just knew I had a big chance to win low, so I kept betting. Turn card brought a smile on my face because I had the best possible low hand! Well, by constantly re-raising my bets it was quite obvious that my opponent had something too. I just couldn’t figure out why he is raising so much, probably going for the low hand like me. River card was more than I hoped for. It was for sure now that I will win high with a flush, Ace high, but, I will most probably split the pot for the low hand with my opponent. I was pretty sure since he raised my bets all the time.
The moment of truth… What the… My opponent just thought that his cards were very good. This is funny. All those chips for two pair, Eights over Sevens? I don’t even want to go in his low hand card. Come on… Chance that he’ll win high hand with community cards like these were very slim. However, there was quite a potential for flush and straight. But, there were much better combinations for low hand which could beat him.
Well, maybe his instinct pushed him to raise so much. If that was the case… it was a bad one! On the other hand, if this is his way of bluffing, he should reconsider his ways.

Just Keep Raising on those Community Cards

This was Omaha Hi/Lo Limit poker hand. My hole cards were double suited with possibility for a straight (Ad-6d-8h-9h). Three more players stayed in this hand until the end. Of course we were betting and raising all the time. And after the river card, me and two more players were all in. I really believed somebody will leave the table after this hand.
But…
I won high with a straight, Nine high. Two players won and split the low pot with A-2-4-5-7. Both players were holding A-2 in their hands. And the last player who was evolved in this hand got nothing. He only helped us to stay in this game by giving us his chips. Just like me, he had a straight too, but Seven high. He must have been very angry. I mean, he lost lots and lots of chips. But… this is just a game.

We Will Not Leave this Table so Easily

When you play Omaha Hi/Lo poker it is hard sometimes to figure out who is going for a low and who is going for a high. I had that problem in this Omaha Hi/Lo Limit poker hand. Even though this was a limit game, stakes can be very high.
My hole cards were Qc-2c-5h-10h. Flop brought me three of a kind, Twos. I was so optimistic until my opponents start to raise and raise and raise. I just followed them but I wasn’t sure that three of a kind is worth that much. Card after card, raise after raise, I still had just that three of a kind.
After the river, I needed to decide am I going to fold or am I going all the way until my all in? I stayed in the game after all. And that was a great decision - I won high! One more player was holding a deuce but I had a stronger kicker. This one was very close. I need to say I got lucky.

A Little Bit of Courage and Everything will be Fine

When I play Omaha Hi/Lo poker I don’t like to play just on a high or just on a low hand. I prefer mixed cards and chance for both parts of the pot. Even my cards were perfect just for a low hand 1-3-4, I gave it a try. The flop was awesome and it wasn’t even for a low it was for high hand. Woooow. I’ve got a full house and a big chance to win. I have used every bet opportunity I got.
And at the end I won a high hand with a full house, Aces full of Threes. This is why I adore this game, it’s full of surprises. The only thing I don’t like about this Omaha Hi/Lo Limit poker hand was the fact I had to split the pot.

Aimed for a Low and Hit the High

How many times you should re-raise before somebody believes you have good cards in your hands? In this Omaha Hi/Lo Limit poker hand I had 1-2 for a small and suited A-Q for a high pot, so I gave it a try. At least I want to see the flop with these cards. After the flop, player two seats on my right starts with betting. You bet either because you want to make others go away if they miss the flop, or because you have great cards. But truth is sometimes different.
We didn’t just follow his bet, we re-raised every time and he didn’t figure that we probably had something better, so he re-raised until the end. At the end he lost not just this hand, but all the chips as well. The first player on my right won high with three of a kind and I won low with 1-2-4-7-8. Well, the most aggressive player lost everything. The only thing I can say on his play is – thanks for the chips!

Man, Thanks for the Chips

This hand is a perfect reason why I adore Omaha Poker more than Texas Hold’em. For me, Omaha is more interesting poker game because much more players stay in the hand to see a river card. There is more mind-breaking, cold sweat action and since you hold four cards there are more and more possibilities with every new card on the table. I’m 100% in the game every second because you need to turn your concentration to a maximum. In Omaha everybody have something (or chase something) - somebody has better while others have less good hand.
Take a look at the example below – just a regular Omaha Hi/Lo Limit poker hand:
Player 1: Three of a Kind, Eights
Player 2: Pair, Kings; Low Hand: 3,4,5,7,8
Player 3: Two Pair, Sevens over Fives; Low Hand:1,3,5,7,8
Player 4: Straight, Ten high; Low Hand: 2,3,5,6,7
Me: Low Hand: 1,2,3,5,7
Off course, some of these hands were very bad, and that players should fold instead of paying others bets, some were good, and just two hands split the pot. In other words, be careful – Omaha poker is full of surprises!
